2 Years for Loopy Yarns! August 28, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — loopyyarns @ 8:00 am

Celebrate our 2nd Anniversary with us on Friday, September 7. Join us for a Loopy time with fun, refreshments and prizes!!

We’ll be having some of our new yarns on sale. Mirasol yarns is for the benefit of children and their families in the highlands of Peru. Before we were able to label them, customers were buying them out of the boxes. We purchased all yarns available in every color and will have them 20% off on Friday! These are their yarns:

Cotanani – 60% pima cotton, 40% merino wool, DK weight, 10 bright solid colors
Hacho – 100% merino wool, DK weight, 10 incredible variegated colors
Miski – 100% incredibly soft baby llama, worsted weight, 10 elegant colors
Sulka – 60% merino wool, 20% alpaca, 20% silk, chunky weight, 12 heathery colors

To record our fun time and fantastic knitters, Franklin Habit will be taking pictures for his 1,000 Knitters Project. The goal of the project is to celebrate through portraiture a creative community whose members have historically been either overlooked or sentimentalized, and whose work is often undervalued. We can add our unique, loopy vibe to his project.

Watch this space for more info on our celebration!

Jonelle Raffini from SWTC August 3, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — loopyyarns @ 8:45 am

We are thrilled to announce that Jonelle Raffino from Southwest Trading Company (SWTC) will be at Loopy Yarns on Wednesday, August 15 from 5 to 8. She will be signing her book “Purls Forever” about the story and legacy of 6 generations of women and their handcrafted garments. Starting with Jonelle’s great-great-grandmother in Italy, the women of her family have been knitters and/or crocheters. In addition to stories about the garments, Jonelle provides updated patterns for each one.

Special: Jonelle will also be talking about the unusual fibers and yarns her company (SWTC) have made famous – bamboo, soy, and milk, to name a few.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Stitches Party & Sale + Book Signing! August 1, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — loopyyarns @ 7:29 am

Whoa! It’s so hot outside but we’re sitting inside, cool as cucumbers, knitting and crocheting!

We are having our second annual Stitches Party and Sale on Friday night August 10 from 5 to 9. Last year we had a great time meeting people from all over the country. We have a special guest joining us this year – Mary Beth Temple will be signing copies of her new book “The Secret Language of Knitters”.

  • Don’t know whether you should frog your WIP or tink it?

  • Have you stumbled into a warm, welcoming knitting group but feel silly because you don’t get the jokes – or half of whatever else the regulars are saying?

  • Want a little reassurance that yours is not the only stash whose retail cost equals the gross national product of several smallish countries?

  • Need a little happy break so you don’t destroy six weeks of lace knitting (or about an inch and a half) in a fit of frustration?

This book is for you!
