Hemp Yarn is In . . . Hemp is not Marijuana May 3, 2007

You can’t smoke this. It is made to knit or crochet. If you came during Amy Singer’s visit, you felt some of the wonderful garments made from hemp. Her book is full of this wonderful yarn from Hemp for Knitting. It is durable and beautiful!

It is the world’s most renewable resource! Anything made from plastic, petroleum, wood or cotton can be made from hemp. Both George Washington and Thomas Jefferson grew it on their plantations. Intrigued? You can learn a lot more about hemp from Hemp for Knitting’s website.

You’ve got to come and check this wonderful material out!

Session Two: 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm
Refreshments will be served
Special 20% off sale on featured yarns that night

We will be tasting a variety of summer yarns with cotton, bamboo, silk, soy silk, and milk fiber. These yarns are from Art Yarns, Rowan, Fleece Artist, Elsebeth Lavold, Farmhouse, Nashua, Wool in the Woods, Southwest Trading Co., Conjoined Creations, and Berroco.

The reviews of our last tasting were fantastic . . . “the best yarn tasting I’ve ever attended” . . . “it was great to knit with the yarns. I loved some I never would have looked at and found one I didn’t like that I had almost purchased. This was so helpful!” Our shop was filled to capacity by the end of the night with many sitting on the floor.

This time, we have been more selective with the yarns and will also be suggesting patterns that would work well with each yarn. We are having 2 evening sessions (5 to 6:30 and 7 to 8:30) so everyone will have an opportunity to arrive in time to taste all the yarns – both those who get off work early or are suburbanites and those who work late or in the suburbs .

We look forward to seeing you all!
