Our class schedule has been updated with classes through May!

There are a couple of new classes that go along with our Beach Party. Beach/Shop Til You Drop Bag (made with hemp or cotton) and Felted Flip Flops will help you get into the summer mode.

About the Beach Party . . . it’s Friday, March 20th. Get rid of the Winter Blues, for an evening of Summer Fun!

We just received Malabrigo’s Silky Merino. It’s 51% Silk and 49% Merino and the colors are incredible. It can be used for all kinds of projects – fingerless mitts, cowls, hats, scarves, sweaters. This is a picture of Indecita Silky Merino.

We also received more Malabrigo Sock and Worsted.

Sweater Workshops

Some of you already know that we have a Sweater Workshop on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30. It started a little slow but I think our UFO (Un-Finished Objects) Party (last Friday night) got people thinking about the projects they have yet to complete. We had a great turnout this past Monday and look forward to providing our customers assistance on their projects.

We’ve gotten in some more new yarn!

Yesterday, Noro Taiyo came it! It is so luscious that 3 of us who work here have already planned what we’re going to make. I think a summer Cardigan is going to be perfect for me. It’s 40% Cotton, 30% Silk, 15% Wool, 15% Nylon. They say it’s 4 stitches to the inch on size 7-10′s and are calling it Bulky. It may be more of a heavy worsted, depending on how you knit it up.

We also got Crystal Palace Maizy in a couple of weeks ago. It’s a sock yarn made of out . . . can you guess it . . . CORN (82% plus 18% elastic). The corn gives it a soft touch and wicks moisture and the elastic helps it maintain it’s shape. It’s great and comes in beautiful colors.

This week over 600 skeins of Koigu came in! Lots of new colors that I’m sure you’ll luv. Come and check them out before they get picked over.

We had lots of fun at the Lunch Bunch this week! I love it when we even have out-of-towners join us.

It’s about time . . .

This past week we’ve been getting in many of the new items we ordered at TNNA (needlework tradeshow) in January.

We are very excited about a new line – Dale of Norway! Baby Ull and Faulk are the first two yarns we have received from them. Both are MACHINE WASHABLE! Baby Ull has long been a staple for baby yarns. Faulk is perfect for fair isle knitting. Dale has long been associated with the Norwegian Ski Team and we have patterns for their sweaters. We also have several baby pattern books that are sooooo cute.

Stix Fix will keep your bamboo, ebony, rosewood needs in tip-top shape and ready to knit. Almost every knitter has a problem as their wood needles get worn spots, small frays, teeth marks or splinters. Everything you need is in this cute, compact pillow pack ready for a quick fix. Just a few simple steps is all it takes for any repair. Keep your stix sleek, smooth and ready to use! I’ve already fix a pair of ChaioGoo needles that my cat, Luke, chewed on. They are like brand new!

We’ve gotten several new yarns from Cascade. My favorite, as a constant sock knitter, is Heritage. It is great to work with, comes in TONS of great solids (of course we have them all), and has plenty of yardage (437). It’s 75% superwash merino wool and 25% nylon. Another new to us Cascade yarn is Cotton Rich – an aran weight, machine wash and dry cotton blend that is already being snatched up by customers. I love to wear cotton and this is perfect!

The Fibersphere has arrived. I’ve been using one I got at TNNA and am amazed at how good it works. It really helps keep yarn from getting tangled and/or eaten by cats Honestly, I didn’t think I’d like it as much as I do. I want to use them on everything but I have so many projects in process that I’d use up all the spheres we have in stock . . .

Big Sale & Move

Yes, its true Loopy Yarns is moving! Don’t worry, we’re not moving far … only a block away to 47 West Polk Street in the South Loop’s Historic Dearborn Station. We are very excited about this great space. We’ll post a picture so you can see exactly where we’ll be but it’s between Bar Louie and the UPS Store (where Sudler/Sotheby’s Realty used to be). It also has a parking lot!!!!

To prepare for the move, we are offering 40% off on tons of yarn, roving, patterns and books. Come quick for the best selections!

We will be closed for the move August 27 through September 1 (Labor Day).

It’s so summery now that we’ve decided to start our Summer Hours this week. Our hours will pretty much be the same, but we’ll be closed Wednesdays.

Also, I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended our Spring Yarn Tasting last week. We love a good party like we love a good yarn, so it’s fab when the two come together! Don’t forget to use your tasting coupon the next time you come in– they’re good for another couple weeks.
